Here’s some of the random sprites I’ve made over the last few months. After my big Space Invaders piece, I took a little bit of a break. I’m about to wrap up the Super Mario Maker project, and am considering moving into Final Fantasy 2 for my next big project.
I’ll be pinning the Super Mario Maker sprites to the wall soon, and will post update pics. =)
I’ve been slow at updating the page, as I have just recently moved in to new house, and was busy with unpacking and cleaning, and a bunch of other stuff. It’s funny when you’ve gone a few months without really doing your hobby, and the joy of getting to do a bigger project.
I wanted to do something that is a little out of the ordinary for the next few sprites, and after literal hours of searching through game sprites online, I settled for a set from the game “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” for the SNES/Genesis. This is Krumm in a frame of his “scary” animation. I have Ickys and Oblina coming up next, and I thing they will make for a cool piece.
The “flat” side of this beadsprite came out a little underdone in a few spots, but I always display “bead” side, so it’s not the biggest deal. I prefer to under-do it rather that over-do it. I really like the way it looks, and that I was able to use up some of my supply of plums, pinks, and neon yellows.
Beavis and Butthead were kings of the mid 90’s. I loved that show, it was one of the best MTV eras ever.
I got these sprites from a Beavis and Butthead videogame that was on the Sega Genesis. The skull on Butthead’s shirt was my own addition, as the original was blank, and there wasn’t enough room for the AC/DC logo. =)
Butthead didn’t make it through the first ironing. I had tried the tape method, and didn’t properly prepare it. Pictures of the failure Here and Here. Thankfully, I didn’t iron his head, and only had to rebuild the body.
I really like the way that these turned out. These are the tallest Perler’s that I have made so far, and I have confidence that I will be able to move forward with even bigger pieces. Tell me what you think in the comments.
I know like, most everyone is making Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails Perlers, but I didn’t make these for me, I made them for a for a friend. =) My daughter wasn’t too keen on me giving them away, but she’s coping.
The Sonic was made from a Sprite I found on a website. The colors on it, particularly around the mouth seem weird up close, but if you hold it further away, it looks right. I really like the way his shoes have the effect of a shadow on them. The colors in Tails’ tail are interesting, the way it appears to be blurred in motion.
