I took a trip to the Local JoAnn’s in Arizona today, and they had some of the new Perler colors and packages out. I thought those of you who visit the page might be interested.
First up, we have some new jars of beads. This new packaging has 18k beads and includes multiple stripey beads and pearly beads that the 22k jars do not have. The 18k and the 22k were both priced at $24.99 USD.
These are the things that I bought. The 6k bags were $12.99 USD, the roll of ironing paper (similar to a roll of parchment paper) was $4.99 USD, and the 1k bags were $2.99 USD.
This is a new color called “Evergreen” it is a shade darker than the “Dark Green”. It will come in really handy for some of the more detailed pieces.
This is the “Fairy Dust” which is a translucent green with a few “sparkles” in it. I can’t see a ton of uses for it, but I will try to get it in an upcoming product.
Here are some other shots of the selection with multiple colors of 1k and 6k bags.
I’ve been slow at updating the page, as I have just recently moved in to new house, and was busy with unpacking and cleaning, and a bunch of other stuff. It’s funny when you’ve gone a few months without really doing your hobby, and the joy of getting to do a bigger project.
I wanted to do something that is a little out of the ordinary for the next few sprites, and after literal hours of searching through game sprites online, I settled for a set from the game “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” for the SNES/Genesis. This is Krumm in a frame of his “scary” animation. I have Ickys and Oblina coming up next, and I thing they will make for a cool piece.
The “flat” side of this beadsprite came out a little underdone in a few spots, but I always display “bead” side, so it’s not the biggest deal. I prefer to under-do it rather that over-do it. I really like the way it looks, and that I was able to use up some of my supply of plums, pinks, and neon yellows.
I’ve been super busy with moving into my new house, and haven’t had a ton of time to keep up with beading, but I am getting back into the groove. It was heartbreaking to take all the Perler art off the walls and box it up. The Final Fantasy wall was only up for 6 months before it was removed and boxed up, and now with the new place, I don’t know where to put it all. I’m thinking that I will build all new stuff for the walls in my house, and here is the first set!
Super Mario Kart came out the summer of 1992, when I was about to become a Senior in high school, so I missed it when it first came out ( I was busy with a summer job and partying ). I picked it up a few years later, though, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I didn’t notice until after I was done that I made a mistake in Yoshi’s hand, so I might make another one and use a lighter shade of green to match the Luigi. All eight were made in the race winning pose with the exception of Donkey Kong, because he is always a loser. =)
